Hostel or PG: What’s Your Choice?

Vadodara, the third-largest city in Gujarat has a lot to offer, whether you’re a student or a working professional. And that’s the reason so many people move to this city; but migrating to another city means finding good accommodations, which is a difficult task in the ongoing urbanization. It also brings another question: whether to live in a PG or hostel? They say hostel life is the best phase of our life. However, this is highly arguable. Let’s talk about living in a hostel vs living in shared accommodations.

A hostel is a place where usually students live, and which is supervised by an administration and living in those hostels is called the hostel life. Hostels are aimed at providing budget-oriented, sociable accommodation for students. When you are living in a hostel, you will have to share your room with others. Are you okay with that? The main motto of hostel is sharing facilities with others. The cost of hostel is lesser than paying guests and the facilities are more, but the security of your belongings is less. Hostels are usually located in the central parts of cities and are advisable for students and those who are looking budget friendly accommodation.

If you are staying as paying guest, you can have a room for yourself. Generally, in a P.G. accommodation a person is treated like guest but it does not mean that one does not have to pay for the accommodation. It is known as P.G. because it originally meant staying at owner’s accommodation in which a room or some space is provided and the owner may still live in the same house. Paying guest accommodation is more expensive than a hostel, but the security of your belongings is high, and the environment is friendly enough. PG is advisable for professionals and those who are looking for the comforts of home in their accommodations. Most of the bachelors prefer PG because they do not want to worry about food, electricity bills etc. as in most of the P.G.’s these all are taken care of by the owner. In a PG, you may have to eat at an open mess or you may ask for tiffin to be delivered to your place. You are confined to eating in your own room usually, in case you opt for a tiffin.

It is an obvious fact that the life at home cannot be compared to the life in a hostel; both are opposite faces of the coin. But, a PG accommodation in Vadodara is a home away from home. Yes, no one will dictate rules to you here. There will be no distractions. The standard of living would be high. The best part is, the food will be awesome and homelike, because you’ll be the one managing it.
